Delegates will travel to the historic Kilkenny City and visit the magnificent Kilkenny Castle located in the heart of the city. Founded soon after the Norman conquest of Ireland, the Castle has been rebuilt, extended and adapted to suit changing circumstances and uses over a period of 800 years. Today, Kilkenny Castle is largely a Victorian remodelling of the thirteenth century defensive Castle. You can walk through its fifty acres of rolling parkland with mature trees and an abundance of wildlife. Other features include a formal terraced rose garden, woodlands and a man-made lake, which were added in the nineteenth century. Following your visit to the castle, there will be a tour of the city and its surrounds. Following lunch, there will be time to take a stroll down the atmospheric, cobbled streets and alleyways of Kilkenny city, taking time to explore the city and visit the many speciality boutiques, galleries and craft shops that this city is renowned for. Coaches will return to Dublin city centre, UCD and the conference hotels circa 6pm/6.30pm.
