
Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport is one of Europe’s busiest airports, with more than 55 airlines flying to over 190 destinations. There are services to 29 airports in the UK and an ever-expanding European network, which now covers 100 airports. The majority of UK and European airports are served by low-cost, budget airlines. Dublin airport has two terminals (1 & 2). The airport is approximately 18km from the conference venue at University College Dublin, with taxi, bus and coach links. The simplest way to get from the airport to UCD and many southside hotels is the Aircoach.

Dublin Port
Dublin is also accessible by sea from Britain and France. The major ferry companies are Irish Ferries and StenaLine. Further information on sailings are available on their websites. Dublin Port is 8.6 km from the conference venue at University College Dublin by taxi.

Dublin Aircoach
Dublin Aircoach operates a regular service (every 15 minutes for most of the day) from Dublin Airport to the city centre and to the southside of Dublin. Route 700 (destination Leopardstown / Sandyford) stops on the N11 slip-road opposite UCD – a short walk to the conference venue
across the Stillorgan Road flyover bridge.
The Aircoach returning to the airport stops immediately outside the Stillorgan Road entrance to UCD. Return tickets may be booked on line or paid at the bus stop in the airport (currently €16 return). This is the simplest and least expensive way to get from the airport to UCD and the many southside hotels. Bus stops for the Aircoach have a blue and orange sign.

Dublin Bus
Dublin Bus offers a high-frequency, accessible and easy to use service all over Dublin.
Bus numbers 46a and 145 run every 5-7 minutes from the city centre (Nassau Street) southward to UCD via the N11 Belfield slip-road (stop 2007); cross the Stillorgan Road Flyover bridge and enter UCD via the main gates. The same buses travel towards the city, from stop 768 directly outside UCD.
Other buses serving UCD include:
- 39a, which terminates within the Belfield campus (stop 767); however to access the conference venue, it is better to get off one stop earlier (stop 763) before the Stillorgan Road Flyover bridge.
- 7b, 7d, 47, 116 & 155, which will halt on the N11 at stops 2007 & 768
- 11, which stops outside the Clonskeagh gate to UCD; this is a 20 minute walk across campus to the conference venue.
- Xpresso services operate to UCD during morning and evening peak times only.

Exact change is needed for fares on Dublin Bus. If you think you will take public transport several times, we strongly recommend purchasing a Leap card. Leap cards may be purchased at the airport and in most convenience stores and are valid on Dublin Bus, LUAS tram and DART train where reduced rates are offered. Do not forget to ‘tag on’ and ‘tag off’ on Luas and DART services.

DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) Train

LUAS
The LUAS (Irish for speed) tram has two lines operating in the city, the Red Line and the Green Line.

Taxi Service
There are a large number of taxi services available in the city centre. Taxis from the airport to the city centre / UCD are readily available outside the arrivals hall. A taxi from the airport to UCD should cost €40-45; €20-30 from the airport to the city centre; and approximately €10 from the city centre to UCD. Ensure to only travel in a licensed taxi – they will have their taxi license displayed on the dashboard. Taxis are readily available all over the city with listed taxi ranks in most main tourism areas, and it is also possible to hail a licensed taxi on the street. All taxis take cash, but only some take credit cards. Confirm which payment methods are accepted before starting your fare. Both ‘Uber’ and ‘Free Now’ taxi apps operate in Dublin. Download appropriate apps before arrival.

Car Hire
Many car hire firms have an office in the main arrivals area in Terminals 1 and 2 of Dublin Airport. These include Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Budget, Sixt and Enterprise. Parking should be available for Hotel guests in most Dublin hotels (please check in advance), however, parking in UCD is not free and you are advised not to bring your car to the campus.

AIRCOACH
Aircoach operates a service from Dublin Airport to Dublin City Centre and many of the city hotels. You can purchase tickets to and from Dublin Airport from €12 and pre-book online. Visit the Air Coach website for more information. There is an aircoach stop just a 7 minute walk to the hotel.
Dublin Bus
Public bus services require exact change or a LEAP Travelcard. There are many services from the airport to city centre, the 747 Airport bus will serve Dame Street and drop very close to Dublin Castle.
There are numerous bus routes serving the Dame Street area from various parts of the city. Bus routes include 9, 13, 14, 15, 15a, 15b, 16, 27, 40, 49, 54a, 56a, 65, 65b, 68/a, 69, 69x, 77a, 77x, 79/a, 83/a, 122, 123, 140, 142, 150, 151, 747.

TAXIS
Upon arrival to Dublin Airport, several official airport taxi services can be found directly outside the arrivals hall. The average current price from Dublin Airport to Hyatt Centric is approximately €40.
There are many official taxi services throughout Dublin. Please ensure you only travel in a registered taxi displaying their taxi license on the dashboard. Taxis are readily available all over the city with listed services in most tourism areas.
Travelling around Dublin & Ireland
LEAP CARD
Leap Card is a re-usable smartcard that enables you to pay for multiple public transportation options around Dublin. Get unlimited travel over your selected time period and go anywhere you want in the city and suburbs of Dublin, on any public transport you choose. You can even travel to and from the Airport at the start and end of your trip without any additional charge.
Purchase a Leap Visitor Card online, delivered to your home before you travel. You may also purchase Leap Cards from many local agents. Visit the Leap Card website for more information.
Once you have a Leap Visitor Card, you can top-up with additional time periods (1, 3 or 7 days) at any Leap Card Payzone outlet in Dublin (up to a maximum of five times). Your Leap Visitor Card allows you unlimited travel for the period you have selected on most transport services in Dublin:
- Airlink 747 & 757 airport bus services
- All Dublin Bus scheduled services (not valid on tours)
- All Luas (tram) services
- DART and Commuter Rail in the Short Hop Zone (all of Dublin city and county)

IRISH RAIL/DART
Irish Rail operates services that travel from Heuston and Connolly stations to cities/towns throughout Ireland. DART is a rail service that operates through Dublin, traveling on the east coast and servicing the coastal towns north and south of Dublin. Visit the Irish Rail website for more information.
LUAS
Luas is the Dublin light rail service that operates two tram lines, the Red line and the Green line: The Red Line (East to West) and the Green Line (North to South). The Red Line is 20 km in length and has 32 Stops. It runs from Tallaght to The Point and from Saggart to Connolly. The Green Line is 16.5 km in length and has 22 Stops.
